Les amis des chats is delighted and proud that the British charity RSPCA has confirmed its support of our work by making Les amis des chats an RSPCA International associate. Les amis des chats is currently the only RSPCA associate in France.
It constitutes a formal link between Les amis des chats and RSPCA International providing the opportunity to seek information, advice, training, and support and is designed to assist in the development of animal welfare activity throughout the world. It is a credit to the continuous hard work of our dedicated team.

Les amis des chats was awarded membership of the confédération Nationale des SPA de France (SPA) in 2009.
The SPA encourages independant associations that aim to protect animals to group together in order to become more powerful in the public eye. It is the largest animal protection agency in France and runs a large number of animal refuges across the country.
The SPA brings together 250 animal welfare associations throughout France and is therefore the most important animal protection association in the country.
To become a member of SPA, LADC provided details of our registered adoption centre, other official documents and 2008 activity report. LADC pays an annual fee of 30€.
Membership of SPA provides LADC with a variety of benefits. LADC has already received items to sell and may purchase low cost posters and stickers to promote the national summer campaign to stop abandonment of animals, purchase cost price medicines (to be investigated), and may attend the bi-annual SPA congress. Cats and kittens for adoption may be listed on the SPA website.
The SPA can provide LADC with legal assistance and finance in case where our association lodges a complaint for maltreatment of an animal. The SPA is a state-approved association and as such can receive legacies on behalf of LADC, enabling our association to benefit from total exoneration of inheritance tax and therefore receive the full sum donated minus 3% administration charges.
Les amis des chats was awarded membership of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) in 2009.
To become a member of WSPA, representatives from LADC were interviewed by a WSPA staff member and a 13-page application form was completed. There is a 50 € membership fee to be paid annually (waived in 2009).
WSPA has been promoting animal welfare for more than 25 years. Its work is concentrated in regions of the world where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals and focuses its effort on four animal welfare areas:
- Companion animals
- Commercial exploitation of wildlife
- Farm animals
- Disaster management
The WSPA Member Society Network is the largest international alliance of animal welfare organisations in the world, with more than 900 member societies in over 150 countries. The network is an international force that influences local decision makers and governments alike. Collectively, we can work to create a momentum of positive change for animals worldwide. By becoming a member Les amis des chats will have access to a number of benefits:
- Partnership with other welfare groups
- Advice and guidance on a range of issues including animal welfare, campaining, fundraising and organisational management
- Information from WSPA's extensive resource library and regular communications
- Training through workshops, conferences and individual training sessions held around the world
- Funding through grant programmes supporting welfare projects, educational work and conference sponsorship
